Corrections Policy
A reference site is only as good as its willingness to be wrong in public. This page sets out exactly what we do when something here is incorrect.
What counts as a correction
- A specification that does not match current manufacturer documentation.
- A figure attributed to a manufacturer that the manufacturer does not publish.
- A factual error about a membrane, standard, construction or care instruction.
- A testing label that overstates what we did.
- A broken or wrong source link, which we treat as a factual defect rather than a cosmetic one.
A disagreement with our assessment is not a correction. We will publish and consider it, but an opinion we hold and defend stays on the page.
How we handle one
- We verify the claim against primary documentation before changing anything.
- Clear factual errors are corrected as a priority; specification updates follow our normal verification cycle.
- The page's updated date changes, and where a correction moves a score or a conclusion, the change is stated on the page rather than made silently.
- If we cannot verify a figure either way, we remove it and mark the field as not publicly specified.
Who can submit one
Anyone. Readers, brands, retailers and researchers are all treated identically: bring the documentation and the page changes. A manufacturer's preference, on its own, is not documentation.
