Editorial Policy
WaterproofJacket.com is an independent information platform about waterproof jackets. It is not a shop, not a brand, and not a marketing channel for any manufacturer.
Manufacturer claims and our assessment are separate
Every jacket, technology and brand page splits into two distinct blocks. The specification block reproduces what the manufacturer publishes, without interpretation. The assessment block is clearly attributed to WaterproofJacket.com and never mixed into the specification table. If you disagree with our assessment, you can still rely on the specification.
Unpublished figures stay unpublished
Where a manufacturer does not publish a hydrostatic head figure, a breathability figure, a weight or a fabric composition, the field reads "not publicly specified by manufacturer". We do not estimate, interpolate from a sibling product, or repeat a figure we cannot trace to source. Several major laminates publish no waterproof rating at all, and our pages reflect that rather than filling the gap.
Sourcing and dates
- Specifications are sourced from manufacturer product pages and technical documentation, with the source listed on the page.
- Measurement concepts are sourced from the relevant published standards rather than from marketing copy.
- Every entity page shows when its specifications were last verified; every article shows publication and update dates.
Independence
No brand pays for inclusion, placement, a score, or an award category. Brands cannot review content before publication. We accept no sponsored articles and publish no discount-code content. If we ever add affiliate retailer links, they will be disclosed on the page carrying them and will have no influence on scores, award assignments or the order in which products appear.
Corrections
If a specification here is wrong or out of date, we want to know. Corrections are made openly: the page's updated date changes and, where a score or conclusion moves, the change is stated on the page. Manufacturers are welcome to submit documentation for a correction, on the same terms as any reader.
What this site is not
We do not sell jackets, we do not manufacture or private-label clothing, and we do not run a testing laboratory. Where physical testing has happened, it is labelled and dated. Where it has not, the review says so.
